Four years ago, Sarah and Judith
got together and created Bee Blessed with the intention of bringing
like minded people together, to make blocks & donation quilts. Bee
Blessed is wrapping up in June and we would like to send a big thank you
to them both for allowing us to be a part of this effort.
If you have any blocks made or would like to make, can you please send
these to Judith and Sarah as soon as you can? The Bee Blessed group
will be finishing the final quilts over the next few months with the
last quilts being completed in June.
Thank you ladies for all your beautiful work and sharing your blocks every month with us.

Bee Blessed - March Block
Morning all, just a quick reminder of this months Bee Blessed block. This month Sarah and Judith are looking for Scrappy Canvas Blocks.
If you would like to make some blocks using any 2 colours and donate them to Bee Blessed please see Judith's blog for the tutorial. I can imagine lots of scrappy colour in this one, won't it make a great quilt?
This weeks quilt design software post will be delayed to next week - sorry still working on it (spent all last weekend in a workshop at the Limerick Quilt Centre!) Tune in next week for Inskscape.
In other news the Find a Teacher page has been updated to include other resources. Thanks to all who responded to our questionnaire. If you want to add your blog, shop or facebook page to the Resources section please drop me a line.

Bee Blessed - February
Good morning all. Just a quick reminder of the Bee Blessed block for this month.
Sarah has chosen the Arrowhead block for this months donation blocks. This one has really caught my eye and would look brilliant with all sorts of fabrics. It could easily be made from some spare charm squares too if you have some lying around. All you need for the each print are a 3.5" square and a 4.5" square. This would look really great in solids too. This month the instructions to make the Arrowhead block are on Sarah's Blog, Sew Me.
If you have some time and some fabric and would like to make up and donate some blocks, Judith and Sarah can be contacted on their blogs or the Flickr group Bee Blessed.

Bee Blessed January 2015
Our Modern Irish Bee kicked off our blog posts for 2015 but as a group we do our best to support Bee Blessed, a charity quilting Bee that meets in Belfast about every 3 weeks or so. Those of us scattered around the country can support Bee Blessed by participating in the Flickr group and making blocks for Judith and Sarah.
Every month they take turns choosing a block for Bee Blessed to make and this month is Judith's choice. Details to make this maple leaf block can be found on Just Jude here. This is a very quick and fun block to make. I made two last year for Stash Bee and whipped them up in no time.
Last year during our group's sew in day in Galway we made some blue and green blocks for Bee Blessed and Cindy has made them into a quilt top. Have a look at Cindy's blog for the finished top - it looks great! Thanks to Cindy and all who made blocks for all your hard work.

Bee Blessed - November
For November, Sarah and Judith are looking for a brilliant block made up of strips, similar to the trip around the world blocks, with a white square creating a chain across the diagonal. This is a great block to use up jelly roll strips.
You can have great fun playing with layout if you make a few of these! Sarah has shown a number of layouts and cutting instructions for this block on her blog here!

Bee Blessed: October
This month's Bee Blessed block is a scrap busting, strip block. For October's block Sarah and Judith are looking for Scrappy Stripey Triangles (try saying that 3 times real fast!). Judith's blocks below have a vibrant happy look to them and they are easy to make.
Block Instructions can be found on Judith's blog here this month.

Bee Blessed: March
This upcoming weekend is the perfect time for sewing! If you are looking for a block to stitch that's cute, a bit improv AND gives back to the community, Bee Blessed is for you!
Please head on over to Judith's and Sarah's posts to read more, but they are looking for Pippi blocks this month to alternate with the little heart blocks created in February.

Isn't she cute? Even cuter with those little hearts. You can find the Pippi block tutorial here.
They're a great laugh to piece - below is my last attempt at a Pippi block. I do not know why her legs are so thick and how they are both attached to the right of her body, but she was such fun to piece from my scrap bin. Give one a go!

Bee Blessed February Blocks
Are your January Bee Blessed blocks packed up and sent off? They were so straight forward and easy to make AND came together beautifully! I look forward to seeing the finished quilt.
This month Sarah and Judith are asking for little heart blocks using this tutorial. Isn't that a cute block? It won't take you a minute to make, but together they will make a huge difference in someone's life. Do take a bit of time and get stitching.

Bee Blessed - January
If you have not already found Bee Blessed, let me introduce you to the brain child of Sarah and Judith. Bee blessed is a monthly quilting bee based in N. Ireland with the purpose of creating quilts for local needy people/families/groups.
Many of you, our guild members, have been asking to create donation quilts as part of our 2014 activities. With such a wonderful organization as Bee Blessed at our doorstep, it only makes sense that we combine efforts. After a quick chat with Judith, we decided to bring Bee Blessed to the MQG as our guild's mechanism for making donation quilts.
This month, Sarah has requested Greek Cross blocks from this tutorial. There are no restrictions in color (beyond being generally monochromatic in focus fabrics and white as your background) so this is a great block to create right from your stash. Your time and effort will be greatly appreciated when the quilt is donated to someone in need.
